Nah Lu'um Ka'an is the newest accommodations to join the Nah Uxibal family, just completed in Nov 2011. This very unique and beautiful three bedroom, three bath home hosts a bedroom and bath on each of it's three levels with two large fully equipped kitchens on the lower and second levels. Each level is unique; with it's own style and feel. This home, the house of earth and sky is just that. The larger ground floor sits right at beach level with the white sands just a step out your door. This level is of the earth with a grounded, cozy, private and protected feeling. The rounded indoor dinning area is elegant with windows framing the views of the beach and waters edge.
Then, up the rounded staircase the feeling begins to change. The light increases as the open floor plan allows the air to move freely throughout the space, and the sky comes into view. Here the elements strengthen and become a larger part of your experience, along with the outside dinning and a large open kitchen with granite bar.
Ascending the stairs once again, you find yourself at the top where the light, air and views abound. One small bedroom, decks, a BBQ area and a luxurious bath in a world all it's own. Here you can watch the birds fly below you and the sunrise out of the water from your bed.
Many special touches such as natural stonework in the kitchens and baths, beautiful custom mahogany carpentry throughout, special artwork, and stunning views all come together to create an elegant yet comfortable atmosphere in Nah Lu'um Ka'an.
Because there are full kitchens on both the ground levels (Lu'um) and the second level (Ka'an), this home has the versatility to accommodate a variety of guests. The whole house may be rented to accommodate groups of up to six adults, or eight with little ones. For couples or small families the bottom level Lu'um with it's one bedroom and a futon is more than enough, while families with older children or friends who would prefer two bedrooms can be accommodated in the upper portion of the home, Ka'an.
Lu'um
The earth level Lu'um is the most spacious of the three levels. A large kitchen and rounded granite bar, a raised separate bedroom area under a custom brick ceiling, and the rounded full windowed dinning room are some of the special features of this floor. A queen futon in the sitting area can become a bed for one or two little ones, and the outside covered decks on either side of the dinning room are a wonderful place to hang out with your morning coffee and watch the sunrise. This is a great unit for couples or a small family and is at beach level.
Ka'an
Ka'an consists of the second and third levels of this special home. A large, full kitchen with a granite breakfast bar, a separated raised bedroom with king bed, and built in shelving boarders the sitting area and helps to create a feeling of openness in this light and airy space. The spacious outside covered terrace and teak dinning set is a great place for meals or just hanging out.
The third level of this home is the gem. We call this smaller bedroom surrounded by deck "The Love Nest". A raised queen bed, a luxurious bathroom and mahogany arched windows frame the shades of the blue Caribbean and make this the most romantic room of the home. Here it is hard to tell where the sea ends and the sky begins. Through the arched doors and on the deck is a BBQ area, a sink and small fridge as well as a small table to hang out and enjoy the views. Here you will feel as if you are on top of the world.
These two floors come together to create Ka'an, a great unit for a small family or two couples to share, each with their own floors for privacy.
